enter the iPod

I just got my 20GB iPod in today, after a little confusion. And can you believe it I almost broke it immediately. I plugged it into the computer and the software said it was still looking for an iPod after I told it to format it, so I decided to unplug it and put it back in. Bad idea. After that it wasn't working. I had not even put a single song on it. After messing around for about an hour and still getting a DAMAGED FOLDER icon on the display I went to Apple's website and filled out a return form.

Then in a moment of brilliance I remembered when I had it plugged in that it was accessable from My Computer as a drive, eventhough the folder had only garbled folders the first time. So I dug deep and used my CS degree and replugged in the iPod and chose to QUICK FORMAT it from My Computer. After that I re-ran the Update software and this time it did restore the factory defaults. Now I am just transferring about 16GB of music over Firewire into the iPod, it is going to take until the next morning. But after that it shouldn't be a problem once I am just adding a few files at a time.

modded Xbox one wire away

After trying to sell my incomplete modded XBox on eBay and craigslist (avoid selling there) I have diagnosed my problem to one wire. For some reason I can't get the 5V wire to solder to its contact next to a chip, some crazy protective film or something on the contact. I have to finish finals at the end of May but that weekend for hell or high water I am going to get the wire to stick and then we will know if it worked.

I mean what could be better than playing Mario on the XBox.
